The effect I aimed to achieve with the model was an abstract composition, where the viewer’s eyes would continually explore the different elements incorporated into the piece. Despite the variety of custom panels used, the model possessed a cohesiveness that is resulted by the directionality in the design, this sense of movement, regardless of the fact that it is indeed a physically solid model. I achieved this by focusing on abstraction and technique rather than a narrative concept as well as an emphasis on the assigned terrain or surface itself. Throughout the task, I also learned a lot about the restraints and possibilities of rendering digital designs into reality in terms of material. All in all, given the time constraint, I am very pleased with the final result.
